This is the month of the spooks. This is the month where we have All Hallows Eve (more commonly referred to as Halloween) - a day traditionally when the barriers between the living world and the dead is at it's most vulnerable and the spirits can return to earth and haunt the living. This is a day when the dead are known to rise from their graves and walk the earth once again. This is a month when we decorate our homes and carve pumpkins to keep the evil spirits and demons at bay.
With this being the most glorious and spooky month of the year, I've decided to spend my time bringing awareness to the zombie situation. My first topic is..
How can you tell the difference between a real zombie and some jerk kid dressed up as a zombie?
During the month of October there are many many spooky Halloween parties to attend. A common disguise is the zombie. Zombies have been glorified in many movies, such as Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later. Due to the success of these movies zombies have become "mainstream" for lack of a better word. It won't be long before people are going to be stumbling down the streets in their zombie costumes. We need to know how to tell the difference between a real zombie and the jerk kid from next door.
Costumes
Real Zombies:
Don't wear costumes! They are wearing usually whatever it is they died in. The clothes will be dirty, and wrinkled. The blood will be more brown than bright red, and most likely there will be blood around their mouths.
Fake Zombies:
If they're dressed up in 6" platform boots and a PVC nurse outfit, they're probably not a zombie. (Although becareful for the seductive voodoo zombies, but that topic is for another day.) The fake zombies will most likely have bright red blood appearing very placed on their costumes, and it won't be dripping as much as real blood will. Look for extensive eye make-up on both men and women. Lastly, if their hair is perfect, they're not a zombie.
Facial Expressions
Please remember to look for the blank facial expressions. These will most likely be real zombies, and should run away fast!
Candy
If they're eating candy, or throwing candy/toilet paper/eggs at others, then they most assuredly are not real zombies.
The Walk
While most people at Halloween try to make the most of their costumes, a person dressed as a zombie will not be able to keep up the stagger forever (unless of course, they've been drinking and are actually staggering home) Most of the time the real zombies will be walking slow, as they are stiff and have died at some point. Fake zombies can hop, skip and run. While they may do the zombie walk for awhile, you will be able to see that they can't keep it up forever!

Its been brought to my attention that in some cases real zombies can run as well. I think its time to consider a CAPTCHA like test, a quick way to distinguish zombie from human. This would have to work even for people dressed as zombies.
make them and we'll use them!
I like the hair test, I agree, if the hair is perfect they aren't a zombie.
